GARBAGE HOLIDAY SCHEDULE

There is no trash collection on the following SIX holidays: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. Pickup will be delayed to Wednesday if the holiday occurs on Monday or Tuesday.

NEW GARBAGE AND RECYCLING PROCEDURES

East Washington Borough has selected a single hauler for all solid waste and recyclables, starting JANUARY 2008.

The hauler is ALLIED WASTE SERVICES and they will collect from ALL Single-Family Homes and ALL RENTALS with 4 Units or Less.

  • All solid waste is collected WEEKLY on TUESDAYS
  • All recyclables and solid waste on the FIRST TUESDAY of the month.
Both collections will be delayed until Wednesday when a holiday occurs on Monday or Tuesday. THE ONLY HOLIDAYS IN 2008 THAT WILL CHANGE PICKUP DAY ARE MEMORIAL DAY AND LABOR DAY. IN BOTH CASES, FOR THOSE WEEKS, GARBAGE WILL BE PICKED UP ON THE WEDNESDAY AFTER THE HOLIDAY.”

DO NOT PLACE GARBAGE OUT BEFORE 6:00 PM MONDAY. STRICTLY ENFORCED!! GARBAGE PICKUP WILL BE VERY EARLY ON TUESDAYS.
YOU MIGHT HAVE TO PUT YOUR GARBAGE OUT MONDAY NIGHTS AFTER 6:00 PM.
  • ALL RECYCLABLES may now be placed in A SINGLE CONTAINER. (bi-metal cans, plastic, glass bottles/jars, cardboard, newspapers, junk mail, magazines/catalogs, and phone books)
  • Recycling is MANDATORY in the Borough and also brings in needed funds to the Borough. Recycling containers are available for pick-up at the Borough Building. Call or stop in during business hours.
  • CHRISTMAS TREES must be placed alongside and with your garbage for collection by hauler.
  • LEAVES can be bagged in regular garbage bags and placed alongside and with your garbage.
PAYMENT INFORMATION
East Washington Borough will bill each single-family dwelling $185 per year in January.
Payment is due to the Borough by March 31, 2008.
Late payment will result in penalties, and possible filing of a citation with the magistrate.

You will no longer contract with your own hauler. NO hauler should bill you.
RENTAL OWNERS: You will be billed per unit if your building has 4 units or less. You may contact the Borough if you need an exemption from this. Use Exemption Form. Requests for exemption must be in writing and brought to Borough Council.
