The Borough of East Washington and The City of Washington are in the early stages of partnering with area business and agencies to help alleviate the hardship that over 170 families are experiencing due to the rising water of July 28, 2017.
While the waters have receded, the need has not. Mayor Putnam and Mayor Gomber recognize that there is a need for a central point of contact to relay information and assistance. Life Church has offered to act as the repository and information center for the assistance.
Assistance ranges from financial assistance, discounts on materials and services; help with connecting with utility programs; and they are working on building a collaborative network of community organizations and service providers to help those with repairs.
Mayor Gomber said “ We have a Great Washington Community evidenced by businesses and individuals reaching out to help their neighbor’s in their hour of need, which at one time or another we all have personally experienced—we thank you”
Mayor Putnam said “When unfortunate events like flooding happen, there are no boundaries between communities. We will struggle, and we will ultimately rise above together.”
